So, I visited with a friend of mine this past weekend. He has what I've always secretly wanted: an upper class bohemien lifestyle. Now, before you shake your head too much, let me tell you it's possible. He is an artist, but by no means starving. He's renting to buy a 5 bedroom 2 full bath home in North Jersey - right by the Garden State Plaza. The house is cute outside and immense inside. He's got two roomates, and the three of them are fixing up the home for $ off the rent/mortgage. He teaches art classes out of his home or in others; he's a tattoo artist and does freelance artwork. He's knowledgeable about current events and situations. He's got a good head on his shoulders and is well read. And most importantly, he hasn't main-streamed.

I'm envious. I had to main stream, so I did. But, I look at him and while I get excited for him, I can't help but secretly wish that I could have made that life work for myself too.

I'm too old and grounded now to want to quit everythng and make music work for me ... besides the fact that I'm not good enough at music for it to work for me.

However, I did come home and start ripping through my apartment, getting rid of everything I have just because it's what I 'should' have. Books, movies, clothing, nik-naks, all are being sold off in my 'spring yard sale'.

I have pictures of just about everything, and will be listing things here, and online. If you want it, claim it.

I can't believe it took talking to a friend I've had for 26 years - REALLY talking - to make me realize, that I'm okay. And my style is okay. And I don't need to totally mainstream to be okay. And, yes, I say this being in the SCA, because although it's an interesting hobby, and my morales are my own, I still have and do things so that outside people will perceive me as normal. WTF!?
